Sean Woodward is a PhD candidate in Physics and Biology at The Rockefeller University. He is currently leading the development of a system for visually and acoustically tracking pool-enclosed bottlenose dolphins (T. truncatus) at the National Aquarium, with the ultimate aim of generating a rich data set that, under the scrutiny of pattern-learning algorithms, will reveal the information-encoding properties of dolphin sounds. He previously studied the mechano-optical properties of cholesteric liquid crystals and the biochemical pathways underlying rat circadian cycles in pursuit of a double-major in Biological Sciences and Physics at Fordham University.
