Novel/Tandem Paradigm

One of the most striking features of dolphins both captive and wild is their ability to synchronize their behaviors. perhaps even more captivating is that even when the animals are given the command to perform a “novel” task, or one that has never been done before, they are still able to perform the behavior in tandem. The means by which they coordinate behaviors is still unknown. Our investigations at the aquarium attempt to determine if the coordination is done through behavioral signaling, vocal signaling, or some other means that is yet undetermined.
